Real Madrid: Dortmund won't let Haaland leave without a fight

Erling Haaland is one of the names on Real Madrid's list of objectives. The Norwegian striker is one of the most prolific goal scorers in Europe. The figures he has achieved at Borussia Dortmund and at his previous club Molde have made him a target for a number of top clubs - apart from Madrid, PSG and Manchester City are also prepared to enter a bidding war to sign him.

Dortmund counting on Haaland

However, Dortmund are not taking it for granted that Haaland will leave. The German club are considering another option - that the 21-year-old stays with them. Haaland is under contract until June 2024. Dortmund Sporting Director Sebastian Kehl spoke to Bild about Haaland's future, making it clear that the club will explore every avenue to keep the player on board. "We are trying to persuade Haaland that staying at Borussia Dortmund is still one of the best options for him. He has the chance to continue developing as a player here with us, and maybe we can still convince him to stay. We'll fight for him, we'll try everything to keep him," Kehl explained.

"A decision hasn't been made. We are counting on having him in our squad for a fairly  long period of time - maybe even longer than some people think," he concluded. It appears that Haaland's future, at least in the short to medium term, remains up in the air....
