Atlanta United average attendance the world's ninth highest

Atlanta United are two games away from booking their ticket to the 2021 MLS Cup playoffs in the Eastern Conference. Last weekend they played their last home game of the regular season with a 1-1 draw against Toronto and they will finish the campaign as the average attendance leader for the fifth year in a row.

Ranked among the best in the world

The Five Stripes played 17 home games at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium during the 2021 Major League Soccer regular season and they had an average announced attendance of 43,964. For this campaign Atlanta United had a total attendance at home of 747,386 and they rank ninth among the club teams around the world.

If you think back to where we were in January (with the coronavirus pandemic) and you just said to me we were going to get three-quarters of a million in attendance during the season before the playoffs I’d have been pretty happy,” Atlanta United President Darren Eales said on Monday.

This season the highest announced attendance for a game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium was 67,507, against Columbus Crew on 24 July. The lowest announced attendance was 40,116 and it was at a match against Montréal Impact on 15 May. The Five Stripes will play two road games against the NY Red Bulls (3 November) and four days later against Cincinnati.
