Christian Pulisic is slowly trying to get back to top form after a lengthy ankle injury suffered in the first week of September. Earlier this week the United States men’s international returned to the Champions League with Chelsea in the 1-0 road win against Malmo, - his first game since the Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on 14 August.

Pulisic played back-to-back matches

Chelsea opened the 2021/22 Premier League season with a 3-0 win against Palace with Pulisic getting on the scoresheet. The American was subbed in the 82nd minute after a great performance but then missed nine league games after that due to coronavirus followed by an ankle injury.

The good news is that he made his league return in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. The United States international came on in the 85th minute replacing Hudson-Odio for the closing stages.

Back to the USMNT

Now that he has recovered sufficiently, the head coach of the United States men’s national team, Gregg Berhalter, decided to include him in the roster for the World Cup qualifiers next week. The USMNT will play against Mexico at the TQL Stadium on 12 November and then go on the road to face Jamaica four days later.
