Mexico need three wins to seal Qatar 2022 World Cup ticket

The Mexico national team has yet to lose a game in the final round of the World Cup qualifiers in CONCACAF. After six matches they have a record of four wins, two draws and no losses and they sit in first place with 14 points.

Mexico in search of the 'magic number'

During the international window of November they will go on the road for back-to-back games to face the United States on 12 November and four days later they will face Canada. If ‘El Tri’ is able to obtain six points they would be one game away from being the first CONCACAF side to book their ticket to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

They will return to action on 27 January to face Jamaica at the National Stadium Independence Park. If they manage to get all nine points from those three matches they will secure their spot in Qatar next year.

‘El Tri’ will then play against Costa Rica (30 January), Panama (2 February), the USMNT (24 March), Honduras (27 March) and El Salvador (30 March). Mexico is in full control of its destiny and they are expected to finish in first place at the end of the round-robin campaign.
