The Miami Dolphins stunned the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night at Hard Rock Stadium. The Dolphins landed their second win in a row behind a stifling performance from their defense in their 22-10 win.

Flores goes wtih Brissett, swaps to Tua in 3rd Quarter

Dolphins coach Brian Flores had a choice to make pregame as Tua Tagovailoa was given the OK by the medical staff to return to action after breaking his finger two weeks ago. Jacoby Brissett was named the starter, but he would not finish the game, after being swapped with Tagovailoa in the second half.

The Ravens started strong moving the ball with ease in their opening two possessions, but could only come up with three points on their two drives that ended deep in Miami territory. After the second possession, the Ravens offense came to a standstill.

Nothing buts field goals until 4th Quarter

Miami had their own problems on the offensive end. Brissett and the Dolphins got a first down on their opening play of the game, but went three and out on their next two possession. Jason Sander put the home side on the board mid way through the first half with a 31 yard field goal. The Dolphins would add another field goal right before the halftime break to take the 6-3 lead.

Brissett was injured on the opening series of the second half after getting his feet tangled under a defensive player on a third down play in which he was sacked. Brissett limped off the field under his own power and was eventually given the go ahead to return, but coach Flores opted to go with Tagovailoa after a stagnant first half and some change.

Tagovailoa took a little while to get going. His first few throws were well off the mark, but he settled down once the fourth quarter came. He led the Dolphins all the way down to the one yard line, before Sanders kicked his third field goal of the game.

Play of the game: Howard's scoop and score

The game was tuned on Its head on the next possession when Lamar Jackson hit Sammy Watkins on a slant pattern on 3rd and 10, but the wide receiver had the ball punched out of his hands by Xavien Howard. Howard then picked the fumble and ran it back 49 yards for a touchdown. It was very fitting that the opening touchdown of the game was scored by the defense. That touchdown made it 15-3 after the failed two point conversion.

The Ravens finally got something going on the offensive end when Lamar Jackson marched the Ravens on a nine play 99 yard touchdown drive capped off by a Mark Andrews five yard touchdown reception. Baltimore was helped by 35 penalty yards accumulated by the Dolphins on the drive after a couple roughing the passer calls and a defensive holding call.

The Ravens needed a stop after scoring with 4:12 left in the fourth quarter, but Tagovailoa’s pass to Albert Wilson went for 64 yards, and just like that Miami was yet again in scoring position. Tagovailoa had a one yard QB sneak that put the Dolphins up 22-10 right before the two minute warning.

Defense wins the game as Coleman picks Jackson in endzone

The Ravens last grasp drive was ended when Lamar Jackson’s pass was picked off in the end zone by Justin Coleman. Again, fitting that the game ends with a defensive play.

Tua Tagovailoa ended the game with 158 yard on 8/13 passing and the touchdown run to put the game on ice. Brissett was 11/23 for 156 yards before exiting the game, but it seemed clear midway through the game who coach Flores wants under center as long as Tua is healthy.

The Dolphins improve to 3-7 after winning their second striaight, while the Ravens drop to 6-3 making things even more interesting in the AFC North.
