Update:
USMNT-Mexco (Qatar 2022 qualifier)

Despite heading the eight team Concacaf Qatar 2022 qualifying group, Mexico will be out for revenge as they face the 'old enemy' in Cincinnati on Friday and look to avenge recent defeats in the recent Gold Cup and Nations League finals.

El 'Tri' remain, along with Canada the only undefeated teams in the Concacaf octagonal as they face the USMNT on Friday with the action starting at at 9:00 p.m. local time (03:00 CET on the Saturday morning).

With 14 points from four wins and two draws, Mexico lead the USA by three points but the good news for Greg Berhalter's men is the return to action for Chelsea player Christian Pulisic after his absence due to injury in October.

As a precaution, the Chelsea striker will not be in the starting eleven who will face the Mexican side without key defender Néstor Araújo (Celta Vigo) due to suspension.

Mexico boss Gerardo Martino is expected to call upon Johan Vásquez (Genoa) and seems set to opt for a midfield pairing of Héctor Herrera (Atlético de Madrid) and Andrés Guardado (Betis).

In attack, 'Tata' is expected to select the trident formed by Hirving 'Chucky' Lozano (Naples), Jesús 'Tecatito' Corona (Porto) and Raúl Jiménez (Wolverhampton).

Recent games

In June, the Stars and Stripes defeated El 'Tri' 3-2 in the final of the first edition of the Concacaf Nations League.

Following this victory, the first for the United States over Mexico in a Concacaf final in 14 years, Gregg Berhalter's team once again had the audacity to beat Mexico once again with a 1-0 in the Gold Cup final.

Despite the slip-up in Panama and after failing to secure a place in the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia, Berhalter's men will fancy their chances of progressing to the 2022 finals in Qatar next year with the top three sides progressing automatically and the fourh placed side facing an inter continental play-off.

Pulisic returns

Greg Berhalter will have Christian Pulisic back in the ranks for the US but stated: "Christian is not going to start the game tomorrow,", common sense tells us that you can't line him up in a game like this when he's only been in four training sessions and he's been out for two months."

"I understand (Chelsea manager) Tuchel's concern," he said. "I hope he has some playing time, that we put him on the field and he can have an impact and help us get the result we want."

Berhalter will however be without both the injured Sergiño Dest (FC Barcelona) and Gio Reyna (Borussia Dortmund).
