Green Bay Packers starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers missed Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs after testing positive for covid-19 last Wednesday, Nov. 3.

The Packers dropped to 7-2 after losing 13-7 to the Chiefs with back-up QB Jordan Love under centre in Kansas City.

Since Nov. 3, Rodgers has not practiced, but has connected to the team virtually for the entire week. The earliest he can go back to Lambeau Field, per NFL protocols, is Saturday if he’s cleared by team doctors, and he’ll be eligible to take the field against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

While Rodgers acknowledged that there are some health-related challenges that need to be cleared before he returns to the field on Saturday, coach Matt LaFleur told reporters Friday that he thinks Rodgers will suit up for Sunday, and that there won’t be any extra preparation to compensate for the MVP’s absence when he returns, “It wouldn't be the first time in his career that he hadn't practiced an entire week and gone on and played a game. So as long as he's confident with what we're doing with him, then we'll see where he's at tomorrow," LaFleur explained.

Jordan Love on Hold for Seahawks Sunday

Second-year pro Jordan Love, who completed 19-of-34 passes for 190 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the 13-7 loss to the Chiefs, is prepared for anything on Sunday. "I’m preparing like I'm going to be playing" just in case the team's medical staff rules Rodgers out for any reason, and then obviously the plan is for Aaron to be back Saturday so he'll be going.

Love seems to feel the same way about his past week in training, “For me, it's the same. Still playing the whole week and then we'll be ready for whatever happens."
