Lottery players in certain jurisdictions were given another chance to win when Powerball introduced the Double Play, alongside thrice-weekly draws.

The add-on Powerball Double Play feature is a way for players to enter a separate drawing to get a second chance at matching their Powerball numbers.

As it stands, the Double Play game is only available in 13 lottery jurisdictions: Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee and Washington DC.

If you buy your Powerball ticket in one of the selected regions you will have a chance to add the Double Play feature for an extra $1 per play. The supplementary draw will be held right after the regular Powerball drawings on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, offering a second chance to win.

Players who opt in to the Double Play game will be playing with the same set of numbers as they chose for the main draw. Bear in mind, however, that the Power Play multiplier does not apply on anything won from the Double Play draw.

You can watch the Powerball and Double Play drawings live online at Powerball.com and they will be broadcast live by participating television networks at 10:59 p.m. ET.

How much can you win in the Powerball Double Play draw?

Unlike the regular Powerball draw, which features a rolling jackpot that increase for every week without a winner, the Double Play top prize is set at a fixed amount. Every week a top cash prize of $10 million is on offer for players.

As is the case with the Powerball, the winning numbers are drawn at random: five from a pool of 69 numbers; and one Powerball number drawn from a pool of 26. This means that the odds are the same as that of the regular Powerball, although the top prize on offer is significantly less.
