Fabio Cannavaro reveals he rejected offers from MLS

Fabio Cannavaro left a legacy as a soccer player with clubs and the Italy national team, but has yet to make a difference as a head coach. The 48-year-old parted ways with Guangzhou Evergrande in September and several teams from around the world have approached him about a managerial job.

Cannavaro rejected offers from MLS

Major League Soccer has become an option for several managers to start or continue their career, but not for Cannavaro. The World Cup winner with Italy confirmed that he has had several offers from clubs in MLS, but turned them down because he wants to manage a club in Europe.

I had some offers from America but I had to reject them,” Cannavaro told Il Corriere dello Sport. “I prefer to wait for a chance in Europe.

I’m not in a hurry, I’m not impatient, but I have a lot of desire and I risk getting tired by lazing around.”

Cannavaro retired in 2011 while playing with Al-Ahli and joined the club's coaching staff two years later. After a season as the assistant coach, he was offered the managerial job at Guangzhou Evergrande, where he had two stints. His only experience as a head coach has been in the Chinese Super League, but he feels ready to return to Europe's top-flight leagues.
