Sebastian Giovinco's agent is in Toronto discussing possible return

The Italian playmaker will have to bring down his salary demands if he wants to return to Toronto FC for the upcoming 2022 MLS regular season.

Sebastian Giovinco's agent is in Toronto discussing possible return

Sebastian Giovinco is currently without a club after ending his contract with Saudi side Al-Hilal Riyadh in August. The 34-year-old wants to keep playing at a high level and according to The Sun, he could return to Major League Soccer to play with Toronto FC next campaign.

Salary demands are too high

The ‘Atomic Ant’ has been in talks with the MLS side bosses and his agent traveled to Toronto to try to reach an agreement. Multiple sources have confirmed that Giovinco and his agent are in talks once again, but the Italian playmaker needs to bring his salary demands way down for any deal to be made.

Giovinco left a mark in Major League Soccer with Toronto between 2015-2019. The 34-year-old scored a club-record of 83 goals across all competitions and in his first campaign he won the MVP award, the Golden Boot and the top assist provider. In 2017 Giovinco also helped Toronto win the MLS Cup, the Canadian Championship and the Supporters’ Shield.

He has been one of the best players to arrive to the league in the past decade and he could still make a difference if given the opportunity. Toronto has one more game left to play this year, after not making it to the playoffs, when they meet CF Montréal on Sunday for the Canadian Championship final. The match will be played at the Stade Saputo and the winner will book a ticket to the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League.
