Packers' Aaron Rodgers misses practice with toe problem
The star quaterback is sure he will be ready for the next game against the Vikings
The Packers' QB has been at the center of intense debate in recent weeks and now he's added an element of mystery to the mix.
What's up with Aaron Rodgers' toe?
Though it is understood that Aaron Rodgers injured his toe during his covid-19 quarantine, it is not clear how or to what extent. The only thing that is clear is that it resulted in him being absent from Wednesday's practice session. This of course only adds pressure to an already tense situation as Rodgers' 'timing' came in for scrutiny after his return to the field last week.
The issue of Rodgers' toe came in for repeated questioning during his weekly appearance on the "Pat McAfee Show" on Tuesday followed by him sitting out the following day's session. The Packers for their part were quick to point out that it was only a jog-through session and as such Rodgers would not have been required to participate even in normal circumstances. Rodgers, however, did state on Wednesday that it was in fact his toe that kept him from training.
"I'm not sure what my status will be tomorrow or Friday, but I'd like to get out there if I'm feeling good enough," he said. "But it's definitely a better week than last week being separated [during the quarantine], being able to go through all the meetings. I plan on being at practice on the field tomorrow, not sure how much involvement I'll do though." Rodgers went on to add that he did not believe it would be a problem by the time they face the Vikings on Sunday. That being said it does appear for the moment, that the star quarterback is set to sit out another week's worth of training.
The Packers have other headaches
Wide receivers Davante Adams and Allen Lazard are the two newest names on the the injury report due to shoulder trouble. Adams was listed as 'limited,' while Lazard did not participate in training. Head coach Matt LaFleur lamented the lack of practice time with all of his starters. "We gotta get back out on the practice field," LaFleur said. "We need those guys just to continue to work on the timing portion, making sure that the details of our route depths and our assignments are on point because I think right now if you just look at the offense as a whole, there is opportunity out there for us. I know we can execute at a higher level. I know we can coach at a higher level. We're just a little bit off with some of the details, and I think that's really kind of hurt us throughout really, specifically [on Sunday] but even throughout the course of the season."

Rodgers isn't sure about the timing
It has now been almost a month since LafFleur's quarter back has participated in a full training session. The three time league MVP was last in training on October 22nd. On Wednesday November 2nd Rodgers tested positive for covid-19 and did not return to the team until one day before the Packers' game against the Seahawks. During that game, the Packers managed just three points in the first half. For his part, Rodgers didn't register a single touch down and also threw an interception in the end zone. Speaking on the break in the Packers feed, Rodgers admitted he wasn't sure where exactly to lay the blame. "It's more little details," Rodgers said. "If you watch the film back, we had multiple mental errors and just little detail things that we didn't do very well, and those need to get cleaned up for sure. As far as the timing, I don't know if there was a lot of timing issues that we had, it was more of the details and in the schematics that we didn't do very well on Sunday."
The Packers will now look to recupe, while Rodgers maintains that his only concern at the moment is his toe and where covid-19 is concerned, he's absolutely fine. "Obviously, the body is really looking forward to that, as is my toe," he said. "But we've got two games until then. It's kind of a day-to-day how I'm feeling, whether or not I'm going to practice, but I didn't find any issues with recovery, standard Monday and Tuesday, as I've done throughout the season. So I feel good wind-wise. I definitely took a few shots on Sunday, but I feel good today on Wednesday."
