What is Dak Prescott contract with Dallas Cowboys? salary and duration
Dak Prescott missed most of last year with serious ankle injury, but that didn't stop the Cowboys from offering thier QB a blockbuster contract extension.
The Dallas Cowboys are 7-4 in the NFC and are in contention for getting home field advantage throughout the playoffs if they can comeback on the Arizona Cardinals in the final stretch of the season. Home field would be big step towards a place where America’s team hasn’t been since 1995. The man Cowboy nation expects to get them there: Dak Prescott.
Dak gave Dallas hope from the start
That’s why Cowboys owner Jerry Jones decided to break out the check book and pay the two time Pro Bowler big bucks after five years with the franchise.
Prrscott led the Cowboys to a 13-3 record, throwing for 23 touchdowns and just four interceptions in his first year out of college. Dak won the Rookie of the Year that year, but Dallas lost to the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional round of the playoffs.
The Cowboys have only been back to the playoffs once since then, but belief is sky high in the Lone Star State this season. Second year coach Mike McCarthy has a proven track record of winning but hasn’t had a full year with Dak Prescott under center.
Prescott's future was in doubt after injury
In Week 5 of last season Prescott was carted off the field after an ankle he suffered while playing the New York Giants. The former Mississippi State Bulldog’s ankle was mangled, and he would be sidelined for the rest of the year.
The Cowboys quarterback left AT&T Stadium with a compound fracture and a dislocated right ankle. Questions began to arise if Dak would ever play football again. The worst part of the injury aside from the pain and recovery, was Prescott was on the last year of his contract and due for a big pay at the end of the season. The injury tossed his future into jeopardy.
Just about a month after the Super Bowl, Jerry Jones took a big leap of faith by offering his franchise quarterback a four year deal worth $160 million dollars, with an NFL record $66 million signing bonus.

The first three years average $42 million per year.
Contract with Cowboys not Dak's only big pay day
Jones wasn’t the only one to believe in Dak’s comeback bid. Jordan Brand also showed their faith in Prescott this offseason. After five years with Adidas, the Dallas number 4 made the switch to Air Jordan in the summer. Exact details of the deal have not been released but the two parties agreed to a five-year deal that will make him the highest paid NFL player represented by the brand.
Prescott stunned in his return to action in the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He threw for 403 yards with three touchdowns and almost beat the defending Super Bowl champions. He has thrown for a total of 2,932 yards, with 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
While Dak is having a fantastic comeback season, the Cowboys have hit a bit of a rough patch over the last few weeks. Since their bye in Week 7 Dallas has won just two of their last five games and have drifted back of the Cardinals for home field advantage.
Dak and the Cowboys will look to bounce back from a Thanksgiving loss to the Raiders on Thursday night against the Saints in New Orleans.
