How are the uniforms of the 2021 Army vs. Navy football game? Are they for sale?

The 122nd rendition of America’s 2021 Army vs Navy Game is almost here, and this year’s uniforms bring another level of American patriotism.

Update:
The 122nd rendition of America’s 2021 Army vs Navy Game is almost here, and this year’s uniforms bring another level of American patriotism.

For the first time, MetLife Stadium is playing host to the Army vs Navy game, arguably the biggest college football annual tradition. The Army-Navy game is featuring this year’s custom uniforms, usually two of the greatest uniforms of the whole season, and they have surpassed all expectations.

Not only are the uniforms slick and sharp, but they also represent and recognize the 9/11 military response, with the game happening close to where the attacks happened in New York City.

And while football fans might be interested in purchasing these uniforms, they do not seem to be sold anywhere.

Let’s take a look at what both teams have revealed for the 2021 contest.

The Army has chosen to remember the U.S. Army Special Forces Command soldiers, with a uniform that speaks for itself. Designed by Nike, the Black Knights jersey has a nameplate on the left that reads out “De Oppresso Liber,” translating to “from an oppressed man to a free one,” and an American flag on the right. On the back, the “road” jersey reads “United We Stand.”

Army head coach Jeff Monken shared how honoring the 9/11 attacks brought the nation together. “I think part of that is honoring the 9/11 attacks and each of the sites where we were attacked on our own soil and how we stood together as a nation at that moment at that time in our history and how it’s important that we continue to stand together, united as a country, but even more so I guess with a greater sense of community and recognizing the division that we still have in our country that remains,’’ “...so I think that probably speaks to the spirit of our team and hopefully the spirit of this Academy, our United States Army, and our nation as a whole.’’

Second up, Navy:

For the 122nd meeting, the Navy has chosen to honor the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighter jet.

These uniforms are just something else. They don’t just highlight American symbolism, but they also emphasize the most utilized fighter jet in aircraft carrier aviation, “the rhino.”

The Super Hornet is referred to as “the rhino” because of its operational use; the jet has a rhino-like protrusion on the front of the aircraft.

The Navy’s helmet has the star logo on one side, and the carrier on the other. On the back, there are gold wings, and in the middle, the helmet is split in half with three stripes of patriotism.

Home of the Giants and Jets, the Meadowlands in New Jersey, will host a much anticipated game. The Army (8-3) comes in leading, as they have won four of the past five meetings, over the Navy (3-8) including a 15-0 victory in the 2020 matchup.
