Tiger Woods is set to make his return to golf ten months after a car crash which left him with multiple fractures in the tibia and fibula of his right leg.

Woods hits the links 10 months after

On February 23rd Tiger was involved in a single car accident in which he had to be pulled from the car with the assistance of the “jaws of life” after flipping several times before hitting a tree.

Woods was hospitalized and had to go through months of rehab just to get back on his feet. Since then he has slowly been getting back in to golf shape, with videos of him on the range surfacing in the last few months.

Tiger and Charlie to team up in PNC

Nearly a year after the accident, Woods has announced his return on Twitter saying he will be teeing it up with his son Charlie in the PNC Championship next week.

"Although it's been a long and challenging year, I am very excited to close it out by competing in the PNC Championship with my son Charlie,'' Woods tweeted. "I'm playing as a Dad and couldn't be more excited and proud.''

The PNC Championship is not an official PGA Tour event, instead it’s a challenge between former PGA major champions and Champions Tour winners and a family member.

Woods not ready for PGA Tour just yet

The PNC was the last tournament Woods competed in before his accident. He and his now 12-year-old son Charlie will play in their second tournament after placing seventh last year.

While Woods will hit the links in front of a major television audience, his official PGA Tour return is still a long way away. Woods said he can participate in what he described as “hit-and-giggle” events, but anything more serious than that will have to wait.

Korda and father Petr to pair up

Previously the competition was named the Father/Son Challenge, but it was changed to the PNC Championship in 2020 to open up the playing field to more than just fathers and sons. This year the number one player in the world, Nelly Korda, will partner up with her father, 1998 Australian Open tennis champ Petr Korda.

Tiger and his son Charlie will look to knock off Justin Thomas and Mike Thomas in the 36 hole tournament from the Ritz Carlton Golf Club in Orlando Florida.
