Yet another player has been lost by the Rams due to covid-19

Rams' Darrell Henderson placed on covid-19 list

On Saturday afternoon the Los Angeles Rams announced that they had placed running back Darrell Henderson on the reserve/covid-19 list. It was just a few hours earlier when head coach Sean McVay admitted that Henderson would not practice due to an illness and that further tests would be run to determine whether his sickness was covid-19 related. In the end it is in fact the case. Additionally McVay also clarified that as far as he knows every player with the exception of one has received the covid-19 vaccine and that the the player in question has since gained covid-19 antibodies. Henderson, it is understood is among those who are vaccinated. This means he will have to return two negative tests within a 24 hour period in order to be authorized to play.

What happens next for the Rams?

At present the Rams who are 8-4 are heading into a game against the division-leading Arizona Cardinals who sit on a 10-2 record. Indeed the Cardinals are the highest ranked team in the league at the moment and will play host to the Rams at State Farm Stadium on Monday Night Football. With the news surrounding Henderson, it now seems all but assured that he will be unavailable for the game. That leaves Sony Michel in the starting spot for the second consecutive game. To his credit, Michel is coming into the game following a season-best showing against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, when he rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries in a 37-7 win. That also means that Mekhi Sargent will now be moved to backup running back behind Michel

The Rams have other concerns as well

Unfortunately for Los Angeles, their roster issues don't end there. The Rams also have to figure out just how their offensive line is going to function ahead of their date with the high flying Cardinals. Center Brian Allen is currently dealing with an MCL problem in his right knee. In all likelihood it will be Coleman Shelton - a third-year undrafted free agent - who will start in his stead should he be unable to recover in time. It was Shelton who took Allen's place when he was injured in the first series against the Jaguars.

"You'd love to be able to have Brian," coach McVay said. "But if anything, Coleman played the whole game last week with the exception of the opening snap. I thought he did an outstanding job."
