BARCELONA

Alexis Sánchez an option for Barcelona if Ferran Torres deal falls through

Barça have the former Manchester United forward in mind if a deal for Ferran Torres falls through in January. Xavi believes he can be used and could return to Camp Nou.

Update:
Alexis Sánchez an option for Barcelona if Ferran Torres deal falls through

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernández is very clear about the profile of the player he needs to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window.

In the current squad, Xavi feels there are two positions short on numbers; on the wing and at centre forward. Manchester City forward Ferran Torres is currently on Barça's radar. The Spain international has been chosen by the club as a winter window transfer target. Barcelona are aware that the signing of Torres will not be straighforward. City are looking for €60 million for the 21-year-old; the LaLiga club are prepared to offer €45 million.

Sánchez in January

According to Sport, Inter Milan forward Alexis Sánchez could be an option if the Ferran deal fails to materialise. Xavi, who knows Alexis well from their days at Camp Nou, still rates the Chilean. According to the report, a deal would be subject to Inter also accepting a loan swap involving Luuk de Jong until the end of the season.

AS understands that Xavi does not consider Alexis as his first choice to fill the forward role as Ferran Torres remains the priority but he is open to the option of other signings in January, including the possibility of an Alexis Sánchez return.

Former Barcelona forward

The Chile international played with Barcelona for three seasons from 2011 to 2014, playing a total of 141 games, scoring 47 goals and registering 35 assists. Now, at the age of 32, he could have a new opportunity at his former club.
