Malawi vs Senegal: AFCON times, TV and how to watch online

All the info you need to know on how and where to watch the final AFCON Group B match between Malawi and Senegal at the Kouekong Stadium (Bafoussam) on Tuesday 18, January.

Update:
Malawi-Senegal: AFCON

It's been a difficult AFCON for Senegal. One of the pre-tournament favourites saw their preparation hampered by positive covid cases and their displays on the pitch have been disappointing with the 'Lions of Teranga' needing an injury time penalty to overcome Zimbabwe and followed up the opener with a lackluster 0-0 draw against Guinea.

Better news is on hand for Aliou Cisse's men though as Senegal captain Kalidou Koulibaly and first choice goalkeeper Edouard Mendy returned to training at the weekend as they await a final covid-19 all-clear after missing their country’s opening two matches at the Africa Cup of Nations finals.

Bamba Dieng, Idrissa Gana Gueye and Fode Ballo Toure, who were both forced to miss this second Group B game against Guinea after returning positive tests, have since tested negative and resumed training with the rest of the squad as Senegal need a positive result against Malawi to ensure progress to the next stage of the tournament.

Malawi dream big

A point against Senegal could be sufficient for 'The Flames' of Malawi to advance to the second round of AFCON in their history with national team coach Meck Mwase not ruling out an upset: “We have all seen the many surprises so far in the tournament, and our opponents must be prepared as it will not be a smooth ride. We only have one player missing and that is our captain, but we have equally good players that can replace him as we fight to qualify.”
