49ers Trey Lance to imitate Aaron Rodgers ahead of Packers game

Quarterback Trey Lance is going after big things this week, as the San Francisco 49ers prepare to face the Green Bay Packers. Lance, who has spent time during his rookie campaign imitating different quarterbacks like Kyler Murray and Kirk Cousins, is now expected to imitate the MVP Aaron Rodgers during practice.
"We need Trey to be very aggressive, let it rip," coach Kyle Shanahan said Tuesday. "Hopefully if he does make some mistakes in practice, our defense will catch it and make him pay. But we need him to be aggressive in everything he does because Aaron doesn't miss many of those opportunities when they're presented to him."

As San Francisco seeks to repeat their 2019 postseason 37-20 victory over Green Bay, coach Kyle Shanahan wants to prepare the 49ers’ defense against Rodgers and the Packers as much as he can, for the three-and-a-half hours that count.
“Everyone knows Aaron's the man. But this doesn't have to do with the last time we met in the playoffs and it doesn't have to do with our game earlier this year. It's one game, it's going to be on Saturday, it's three-and-a-half hours and it's this team right now versus their team,” said Shanahan.
Jimmy Garoppolo to play through injury
The Niners are not only preparing for the NFL MVP, but are also trying to lessen the burden off Jimmy Garoppolo, who is set to play through his shoulder injury on Saturday.
