USMNT out to eliminate El Salvador from World Cup qualifying

The United States men’s national team are just a handful of points away from securing their spot in the 2022 FIFA World Cup and they will return to action during the international break at the end of this month. The USMNT will first host the El Salvador national team on 27 January at the Lower.com Field and a win could bring them one step closer to qualifying.

The USMNT will then go on the road to face Canada three days later June and return back home to host Honduras. If they are able to secure all nine points they will be in Qatar next winter. Currently the United States are in second place in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers with 15 points, one behind first place Canada.

El Salvador must defeat the USMNT

A defeat for the El Salvador national team would put them out of contention to aspire to qualify to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, so there is no tomorrow for them. They have to go game by game and the next international window is crucial for their aspirations.

After playing against the USMNT they will continue on the road to face Honduras on 30 Jan. and three days later they host Canada. The El Salvador national team are in seventh place with six points after eight matchdays. If they are able to win all three games they will keep their hopes alive to return to a World Cup after 40 years.
