Once the playoffs start, the NFL rules and conventions of the regular season end, and a new tournament commences. It is not uncommon to see upsets during the postseason, and there is a big reason for it, players are incentivized to play more games. The further a team goes without being eliminated, the more money players make.

As soon as the postseason begins, individual contracts go out the window, and players’ salaries transform. Every player on the 53-man roster, inactive list, or on injured reserve when a wild-card or divisional playoff game is held will receive an amount devised by the league.

All players will get the same amount. It doesn’t matter their status within the team, and even franchise players will make the same as third-string players.

How much do they make for Conference Games?

The rules will change again if players make it to the Conference Games and Super Bowl. Some players will receive a half share, but players on the 53-man roster, in the active or inactive list for a minimum of the previous three games, regular season, or playoffs, with a team will receive the full amount.

If they are under contract but can’t make those games because of injury, Veteran players will also take home the entirety of the money for veteran players.

Conference Championship Game: $69,000

This would be the amount of money each player stands to make if they are under those rules mentioned above. There are also rules for rookies and for those who played during the regular season but did not play the postseason because of injury.
