The NBA All-Star weekend begins this Friday, February 18 and the game will be played Sunday, February 20 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio. The captains for each team are LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets. Durant himself won’t be playing as he’s still dealing with a sprained MCL and hoping to return soon to the Nets.

How the teams are chosen

The head coaches for each team are Miami Heat’s Erik Spoelstra (to coach Team Durant) and Phoenix Suns’ Monty Williams (to coach Team LeBron) were chosen because their teams have the best record in each conference. The captains (Durant and James) were selected based on which two players had the most All-star votes by fans.

The starting lineups are chosen by a combination of votes by fans, players, and media and the reserves are chosen by the head coaches (seven players from their respective conferences), but they cannot choose players from their own team. Captains Durant and James chose their rosters from the pool of players who were selected as All-Stars, starting with those named as starters.

In the starting lineups, the Golden State Warriors have the most players in the All-Star game, with two total (Stephen Curry on Team LeBron and Andrew Wiggins on Team Durant). Draymond Green makes the third Warriors player oroginally selected to be on the reserve for Team Durant, but he is injured and will not play. Dejounte Murray of the San Antonio Spurs will replace him (the only Spurs player selected).

Here is the full roster for each team:

Team Lebron:

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bucks
Stephen Curry, Warriors
DeMar DeRozan, Bulls
LeBron James, Lakers
Nikola Jokic, Nuggets

Jimmy Butler, Heat
Luka Doncic, Mavericks
Darius Garland, Cavaliers
Jarrett Allen, 76ers (injury replacement for James Harden)
Donovan Mitchell, Jazz
Chris Paul, Suns
Fred VanVleet, Raptors

Team Durant:

Joel Embiid, 76ers
Ja Morant, Grizzlies
Jayson Tatum, Celtics
Andrew Wiggins, Warriors
Trae Young, Hawks

Lamelo Ball, Hornets (injury replacement for Kevin Durant)
Devin Booker, Suns
Rudy Gobert, Jazz
Zach Lavine, Bulls
Khris Middleton, Bucks
Dejounte Murray, Spurs (injury replacement for Draymond Green)
Karl-Anthony Towns, Timberwolves

The Warriors are currently 42-16, but have been struggling on defense as of late. They’ve lost three of their last four games, a big one coming just last Monday with a 119-104 loss to the Clippers. Curry and Wiggins are the best players on the team. In fact, Curry did his best to help come out of that loss, scoring a game-high 33 points, which also happened to be his third game in a row scoring at least 16 points in a quarter and his eighth game this season.

The All-Star game will be played on Sunday, February 20 at 8 p.m. ET.
