Russian forces attacked Ukraine’s main TV tower and Holocaust memorial in the capital city of Kyiv after warnings that Russia would strike the capital.

Ukrainian officials have said that a missile strike on Kyiv’s main television tower on March 1 has left five people dead and five others wounded.

At least some Ukrainian channels stopped broadcasting after a TV control room and power substation were hit. Earlier in the day, Ukraine’s defense ministry warned of attacks by Russia on the infrastructure of Ukraine’s intelligence services. Russian forces also attacked the central square and some civilian sites near the tower in Kyiv.

Ukraine president Vlodymyr Zelenskyy was furious about the hits on the memorial, which commemorated the deaths of thousands of Jewish people who died at the Baby War ravine in 1941. On Twitter, he wrote: "To the world: what is the point of saying "never again" for 80 years, if the world stays silent when a bomb drops on the same site of Babyn Yar? At least 5 killed. History repeating…"
