The NFL salary cap for the 2022 season is set at $208.2 million, which teams have to stay under to guarantee that the wealthier franchises don’t just vacuum up all the talent on offer.

The 2022 free agency, along with the new season, officially starts on March 16, where we expect to see, as our Jeffrey May puts it, “some financial acrobatics as teams buy, sell, and trade to create some cap room for certain acquisitions.”

Between the franchise tag window, roster cuts, and contract restructuring, teams across the league have been and continue to spend their time looking into what roster changes or additions they’d like to make exactly. The Miami Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers and Cincinnati Bengals, who all have their rookie quarterbacks, each have a pretty penny to spend on prospective difference-makers. The Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets also have lots of cap space to spend on free agents this season.

On the other hand, the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints have much less amounts to bargain on new expensive additions.
