"I'll do whatever it takes": KAT before scoring 60 to beat Spurs

Karl-Anthony Towns knew that he would need to play hard against the Spurs since Minnesota was down some players, and he said as much before the game. Towns mentioned in his post game interview that playing the Spurs in San Antonio is never going to be a guaranteed win.

"I told Coach before the game, I said, 'Hey listen, we need this win. I'll do whatever it takes,'" Towns said. "'If I need to play 44, 48 minutes, I'll get it done.' That was kind of the mindset I came in. I had to dominate."

And dominate, he did. His 60-point, 17-rebound game was the first of its kind since Shaquille O'Neal scored 61 with 15 rebounds back in 2000.

Coach Chris Finch finally sat Towns in the fourth quarter with six minutes, 34 seconds remaining (after KAT scored 32 points in the third and a total of 56 in the game), but brought him back out with three minutes left. Finch told Towns, "go get 60." And Towns went and got 60, simple as that.
