USMNT vs Mexico: possible starting XI for USA

On Thursday night, the United States men’s national team will be aiming to defeat Mexico for the first time at Estadio Azteca in World Cup qualifiers. Unfortunately, the USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter will have to make some changes to the starting XI because Brenden Aaronson, Sergiño Dest, Chris Richards, Matt Turner and Weston McKennie are out through injury.

The good news for Berhalter is the return of Gio Reyna, who has not played with the USMNT since September, but is fully recovered from his lengthy hamstring injury. In other positive news, Christian Pulisic has been on top form for Chelsea. So both players will most likely get the start against Mexico and make the difference in attack.

Berhalter will also have Zack Steffen available for the match after recovering from a back and shoulder injury. The goalkeeper played last weekend with Manchester City in the FA Cup before making the trip to Houston to join the squad on Monday.

Possible starting XI for the USMNT

Goalkeeper: Zack Steffen

Defenders: Antonne Robinson, Walker Zimmerman, Miles Robinson, DeAndre Yedlin.

Midfielders: Tyler Adams, Yunus Musah, Kellyn Acosta

Forwards: Christian Pulisic, Jordan Pefok, Gio Reyna
