What's happening with new Tennessee Titans stadium?

In 1999, when the Tennessee club adopted the Titans moniker, they opened the 69,143-seat Nissan Stadium. But now new pastures are being planned.

Update:
Where is new Tennessee Titans stadium?

Nissan Stadium has been the home of the Titans for 23 seasons. However, the stadium could soon be replaced and the Tennessee government is ready to step in and help.

Titans stadium plans

According to AP, a pair of unnamed sources have said that Tennessee Governor Bill Lee plans to allocate $500 million from the state budget, through bonds, to build a new stadium for the Titans in Nashville.

More from the NFL:

It was also explained that the stadium is expected to be roofed in some way and it was even mentioned that government funding would be conditional on the construction being enclosed.

The idea behind this possible construction of a roofed stadium, it is hoped that Nashville will be able to host high-calibre sporting events such as the Super Bowl and the NCAA Final Four.

Lee's support is believed either to facilitate the construction of a new stadium for the Titans, or potentially for renovations to Nissan Stadium; however, alterations to the existing stadium are expected to cost $1.2 billion.

Nashville Mayor John Cooper, however, spoke out against local government funding. "The city is not in the entertainment or stadium business," he said a few days ago.

This news comes on the back of that from Buffalo and their new stadium plans.
