The United States men’s national team is on the verge of qualifying directly to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The USMNT needs a win, a draw or not to lose by six goals against Costa Rica on Wednesday at Estadio Nacional to secure the second place in the round-robin tournament in CONCACAF.

US fans eager to return to a World Cup

The golden generation of the United States could be one of the biggest surprises in the upcoming World Cup and fans are well aware of that so they are already looking to support their team in Qatar. On Wednesday, FIFA announced that 804,186 tickets for matches at the World Cup have been sold in the first phase and the United States is among the countries that have bought the most seats.

Other fan purchases have come in from Qatar, England, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Germany, India, Brazil, Argentina and Saudi Arabia. People have bought a significant chunk of tickets for the opening match (21 November) and for the final on 18 December. So far we only know that Qatar will play the opening match and fans are eagerly waiting for the draw that will take place on Friday.

FIFA also announced that fans who were not able to buy tickets during the first phase, will have another opportunity during the upcoming ‘random selection draw sales period’ on their website on 5 April. So fans will know exactly what tickets to buy then because the final draw will split each of the 32 teams into groups.
