The 57th annual Country Music Association Awards were held at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday, with Lainey Wilson the night’s bigger winner, as had been anticipated.

The Louisiana native was nominated in nine different categories, almost twice as many any other artist, and even picked up an award before the main event got underway, winning CMA Musical Event of the Year and CMA Music Video of the Year for her collaboration on “wait in the truck” with HARDY. The pair were presented with the gongs on ABC’sGood Morning Americaearlier in the day.
At the ceremony itself, Wilson then took home three further prizes for Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year (Bell Bottom Country) and Female Vocalist of the Year.
“Fast Car” collects multiple gongs
In addition to the singer-songwriter, HARDY and “wait in the truck”, 1988 hit “Fast Car”, reworked in 2023 by Luke Combs, was the other multiple winner, picking up CMAs for Single of the Year and Song of the Year.
Country rap star Jelly Roll followed Wilson with five nominations but took home just one award for New Artist of the Year.
Both multiple nominees took to the stage at Bridgestone Arena, with Jelly Roll performing “Need a Favour” alongside Wynonna Judd and “Love Can Build a Bridge” with K. Michelle. Wilson, meanwhile, played her Bell Bottom Country album track “Wildflowers and Wild Horses”.
