Is Sydney Sweeney married? Who is she engaged to? Everything about her fiancé
We look into the love life of actor and producer Sydney Sweeney, who has been chosen to host comedy show Saturday Night Live.
Actor Sydney Sweeney, who was this week announced as a forthcoming host of the NBC comedy show Saturday Night Live, has been engaged to her fiancé, Jonathan Davino, since 2022. However, her myriad professional commitments have got in the way of wedding planning, she told Entertainment Tonight in December: “I am so busy working! I’m a workaholic and I love it, I love it.”
Best-known for her roles on the hit HBO television series Euphoria and The White Lotus, Sweeney featured alongside a two-time SNL host, Dakota Johnson, in her newest movie, Marvel superhero film Madame Web. The picture has struggled at the box office and received poor reviews, but the 26-year-old enjoyed greater success with her recent romantic comedy Anyone But You, which has grossed just under $200 million worldwide since its release at the end of 2023, per Box Office Mojo.
Works with fiancé Davino in film production
Sweeney, who founded her production company Fifty-Fifty Films four years ago, co-produced Anyone But You with Davino, a 38-year-old businessman from Chicago. “He helped put the whole thing together,” she revealed to Glamour UK magazine in December. “It’s really great to work with someone who knows you so well, who fully supports your ideas, your vision and your voice…”
How long have Sweeney and Davino been in a relationship?
Believed to have got together with Davino sometime in 2018, Sweeney was spotted wearing a ring on her left ring finger in early 2022, with People magazine subsequently confirming that the pair were indeed engaged.
Sweeney does not often speak publicly about her love life, explaining in her interview with Glamour: “Everyone is always so curious about who I’m with and what’s that like, but I think it’s important to have something for me. I’m very open [otherwise]. I talk about so much and sometimes it gets me in trouble, but I do try to keep something for me.”
The two-time Primetime Emmy nominee also sought to put an end to claims that Davino is a restaurateur. “I have no idea where that came from,” she said. “He’s also not the heir of a pizza company.”
Powell rapport leads to romance rumours
Sweeney’s chemistry with Anyone But You co-star Glen Powell led to rumours that she had dumped Davino for Powell, who in spring 2023 ended a three-year relationship with the supermodel Gigi Hadid. However, Sweeney laughed off the speculation in an August interview with Variety.
“It’s a rom-com,” she said. “That’s what people want! Glen and I don’t really care. We have so much fun together, and we respect each other so much; he’s such a hard worker, and I’m a hard worker […]. We talk all the time like, ‘That’s really funny.’”
