Amanda Seyfried’s “really extreme” disorder: “I take medication every night”
The actress has revealed in Vogue that she has lived with obsessive-compulsive disorder since she was 19.

Amanda Seyfried is undoubtedly one of the most famous actresses in the Hollywood film industry. She made her debut there when she was just 14 years old, appearing in the series ‘As the World Turns’.
Since then, and up to the present, now at 40, she has continued to shine on both the small and big screens, with ‘The Housemaid’, alongside Sydney Sweeney, being one of her most recent successes.
However, during this same period, the actress has also had to cope with obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD, which she describes as “really extreme,” as she acknowledged in an interview with Vogue.
Since breaking out with roles on “All My Children” and in “Mean Girls,” Amanda Seyfried has evolved into a performer of remarkable range and depth. The condition was diagnosed when she was 19. “I was living in Marina del Rey at the time, shooting ‘Big Love’, and my mom had to take a sabbatical from work in Pennsylvania to live with me for a month.”
That month confirmed the diagnosis. “I got my brain scans, and that’s when I got on medication—which to this day, I’m on every night.”
Since then, the actress has tried to avoid plans that might unsettle her, or situations that involve “drinking too much alcohol, or doing any drugs at all, or staying out too late.”
