Update:

Apple TV+ is officially bringing a reimagined Cape Fear to the small screen, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most high-profile releases of 2026. The series is a “Hitchcockian” psychological thriller that blends the classic revenge story with a modern critique of America’s obsession with true crime.

The series is set for a summer debut in 2026 with a release date of June 5 when the first two episodes will drop on day one.

New episodes will be released every Friday, leading up to the season finale on July 31, 2026 with 10 episodes in total comprising the release.

Cape Fear cast

Javier Bardem as Max Cady: The notorious killer seeking vengeance after being released from prison. First-look details describe him with an “icy-blue stare” and tattoos of eyes etched down his back.

Amy Adams as Anna Bowden: One half of the married attorney duo targeted by Cady.

Patrick Wilson as Tom Bowden: Anna’s husband and fellow attorney.

CCH Pounder as Noa Toussaint.

Supporting Cast: The series also features Jamie Hector, Ron Perlman, Ted Levine, and Anna Baryshnikov.

‘Terrifying’

Amy Adams was speaking to Extra recently while promoting the Cape Fear series and talked about working with co-star Javier Bardem in the upcoming Cape Fear.

In the series—a remake of the classic psychological thriller—Bardem plays the terrifying ex-con Max Cady, while Adams plays Anna Bowden, one of the attorneys he targets for revenge.

She clarified that while the Spaniard’s performance is “absolutely terrifying,” she quickly added that in real life, he is “very kind” and a “gentle soul.”
