A seven-figure cash prize is once more up for grabs on America’s Got Talent - but the reality show’s winning act doesn’t get it all at once.

Season 19 of the talent contest is to come to a climax today, Tuesday September 24, with 10 acts vying to be crowned the new AGT champion.

Chosen by a now-closed public vote, the winner will be announced in a two-hour results show aired at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

Who are the finalists in America’s Got Talent season 19?

  • AIRFOOTWORKS (dance group)
  • Brent Street (dance group)
  • Dee Dee Simon (singer)
  • Hakuna Matata Acrobats (acrobatics)
  • Learnmore Jonasi (comedian)
  • Richard Goodall (singer)
  • Roni Sagi & Rhythm (dog act)
  • Sebastián & Sonia (aerial Act)
  • Sky Elements (drone Act)

How much does the America’s Got Talent winner receive?

America’s Got Talent winners get $1 million - but if they’re to receive their prize money in full, they have to be patient. They’re paid the figure in annual pre-tax instalments that are understood to be $25,000 each.

Winning acts can instead choose to receive their money as a lump sum, but if they go for this option they have to settle for a lower amount.

After each episode of America’s Got Talent, the end credits say: “The prize, which totals $1,000,000, is payable in a financial annuity over forty years, or the contestant may choose to receive the present cash value of such annuity.”

Details of the size of the lump sum are not disclosed, but the financial publication Forbes has previously estimated it to be around $300,000 before tax.
