It looks as though Saturday’s boxing match between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia was noteworthy for several reasons as Nelly and Ashanti fueled romance rumors after they were spotted together.

Are Ashanti and Nelly back together?

The two have been linked with one another since the 2000s, and they certainly added fuel to the fire after taking in the heavily anticipated fight from ringside.

The duo did their best to lay low during the fight, though they weren’t hiding either given where they were seated.

However, they sent fans on social media into a frenzy when a video of them holding hands while exiting the venue emerged.

Ashanti and Nelly were later spotted close to one another while surrounded by their entourages in the tunnels. After answering some questions, they both headed off in the same direction.

The two have yet to comment on whether they are an item or just friends, but this isn’t the first time rumors have emerged regarding a possible romance.

Ashanti addressed their relationship in December

During an appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen’ in December 2022, Ashanti addressed her connection with Nelly after the two performed ‘Body On Me’ onstage earlier that month.

“My reaction was, ‘Wow.’ It was a lot of comments and a lot of people wanting that [us back together],” said Ashanti.

“What I will say is, we’re in a better place. You know, ‘cause before, it was like [mimics fighting]. But we’re cool now. Yeah, we have some conversations, you know. So it’s cool.”

When Cohen asked Ashanti if they getting back together, she responded with: “I mean, I don’t...”

Ashanti and Nelly dating history

Ashanti and Nelly have been linked with one another on and off since 2003, but they have been fairly tight-lipped about their relationship over the years.

Back in 2005, Ashanti confirmed to People that the two dated, but that they weren’t boyfriend and girlfriend. However, she teased that an engagement was possible just three years later.

In 2014, she told ‘Sway in the Morning’ that Nelly was her first real love, and later told ‘Hot 97′ that there was no bad blood between the two.

“It’s a very small industry. Are we gonna see each other? Yeah… I’m not bitter,” she said.

“I feel like in a relationship, it’s like ping-pong. Sometimes you love them, sometimes you hate them. That’s a real statement, everyone goes through that.”
