Why Arsenal fans are upset with Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian was in attendance for Arsenal’s Europa League match with Sporting Lisbon on Thursday night.
Arsenal’s exit from the Europa League on Thursday night came as a surprise to many, with some fans wondering if Kim Kardashian’s appearance brought them bad omens.
The Gunners and Sporting Lisbon battled to a 1-1 draw on the night, which saw the last-16 stage tie head to extra time, and later, a penalty shootout.
Gabriel Martinelli’s spot-kick was saved by Sporting’s Adan, before Nuno Santos fired home from the spot to kick off the celebrations for the Portuguese side.
Kim Kardashian attended the Europa League match
Unexpected to many, Kim Kardashian made a surprise appearance at the Emirates Stadium for the match.
She was joined by her seven-year old son Saint for the contest.
“[The] news that seems to be setting social media alight – yes, Kim Kardashian is here, we can confirm now from the communications officer,” BeIn Sports presenter Carrie Brown told viewers as news began to filter around the ground.
Kardashian later posted about the visit on her social media account, including an Instagram story that featured an image of the Arsenal matchday programme and bottles of Prime with the words “send help” attached below.
While Saint was decked out in an Arsenal top, his famous mother was seen wearing a cream coat.
The youngster has previously shown he’s a big supporter of the team, wearing one of their kits earlier this year when Kim shared pictures from daughter Chicago’s birthday party.
He could be seen pointing to the field with a smile at one point. Although Saint is a fan, The Sun reports Kardashian’s appearance is related to a mystery documentary that is being filmed at the football ground.
Arsenal fans wonder if Kardashian’s appearance led to lack of goals
With Arsenal failing to qualify for the next round after falling in a penalty shootout, some fans wondered if Kardashian attending the game played a part in their exit.
“You obviously can’t have them both: Kim Kardashian and a win,” joked one fan.
Another wondered if the team were hurt by a ‘Kim Kardashian curse’: “Kim k curse in full effect for Arsenal today.”
“Kim Kardashian goes to London and we have two injuries and lose on PKs. That Kardashian curse [is] something wild,” added another.
