Bad Bunny made history this weekend by becoming the first Latino to headline the festival. The artist met the milestone by performing a nearly two-hour-long set that was full of interludes, surprises, special guests, and some technical difficulties.

The set took place on one of the largest stages Coachella has ever built which allowed the artist to truly put on a record-breaking performance. However Bad Bunny suffered some sound mishaps later in the set when he sat down for an acoustic song with Post Malone.

Malone joined the Puerto Rican artist for an acoustic set that consisted of him playing live guitar for songs ‘La cancion’ and ‘Yonaguni’.

“Everybody having a good fucking time tonight, Coachella?” Malone said to greet the crowd. “This is the most fucking amazing thing in the world, man.”

Acoustic difficulties

When the pair sat down for the acoustic set they struggled with technical difficulties, with Malone’s microphone cutting out and his guitar unable to be heard at times. While the difficulties were being resolved behind the scenes, Bad Bunny led the crowd in an acapella sing-along to keep the energy high.

Just a day before the surprise appearance, Post Malone released a new single ‘Chemical.’ The track is his first solo song since his 2022 album ‘Twelve Carat Toothache’.

The track is the first single off of Post Malone’s upcoming fifth studio album, which is slated for release sometime later in 2023.

Other surprise guests

Post Malone wasn’t the only surprise guest Bad Bunny brought out for his Coachella set. Jhay Cortez and Jowell & Randy were also included in the headlining set. Bad Bunny and Jhayco performed ‘Dákiti’ with a jet ski built into the stage design.

He brought out Jowell & Randy to perform ‘Safaera.’ Bad Bunny also performed his hits ‘Tití me preguntó,’ ‘La Santa,’ ‘Moscow Mule,’ ‘Yo Perreo Sola,’ ‘I Like It’ and ‘Vete’.

“The sun and the moon have witnessed epic moments, magical nights. Artists have found their purpose, their inspiration, the answer to all their questions, that perhaps weren’t questions in the first place. Here, history has been made thousands of times. My head is spinning,” he said during his set.
