Bam Margera surrenders to police and swears off drinking
An arrest warrant was issued for the ‘Jackass’ star over an alleged physical confrontation with his brother on Monday.
Brandon ‘Bam’ Margera has turned himself into police after a warrant for his arrest was issued by Pennsylvania Police on Monday. The ‘Jackass’ star surrendered on Thursday, April 27.
The reality TV star was released on bond after bail was set at $50,000. Margera has pleaded not guilty to the following charges: assault, harassment, and terroristic threats.
Why was Bam Margera arrested?
According to court documents, Pennsylvania police responded to a domestic disturbance call at the home of Margera’s brother Jesse Margera. Jesse told the police that the reality TV star had banged and kicked in his bedroom door and left a threatening note warning him not to call the police.
However, the incident escalated when the two brothers were both in the kitchen. Documents allege that Bam Margera began punching brother Jesse and hitting him in the face.
He also allegedly threatened to kill Jesse and others in the house, which included his father and two other women.
Since his surrender, Margera’s lawyer has told reporters that his client was presumed innocent. A preliminary hearing for Margera has been set for May 25 in Pennsylvania court.
“Families have disputes all the time. Every family has disputes. This isn’t a dispute that should play out in the courts or the media,” said attorney Michael van der Veen, to reporters outside the courthouse on Thursday.
Bam speaks out
Margera put out a series of statements Friday dismissing his brother’s allegations of him being on meth. Jesse accused Bam of being on meth and hallucinating earlier in the week while he was still on the run from cops.
“Well my brother made false accusations of me being on meth. But when I wear to god and Phoenix the wolfs life I’m not, I went with my lawyers to urgent care. Guess what Jesse Margera. The results are negative. Now you will be evicted from castlebam sooner than later. Get your f***in s*** out HOMOner. Oh wait… not no more,” Bam writes in an Instagram post on Friday.
Bam also claims that he will stop drinking once again for his family, specifically his son Phoenix.
“For the sake of Phoenix the wolf. Today is the day I will stop drinking. I have been through official [turnoil] with my family. My dumb brother doesn’t understand that it’s not called Castle Jess. It’s actually called Castlebam. It’s mine,” he wrote in another Instagram post.
It seems Margera is living up to his claim. Since his arrest, he was spotted out for lunch with his girlfriend and son on Thursday afternoon.
The family of three looked relaxed as they chowed down on macaroni and cheese and french fries according to pictures obtained by TMZ.
