Matt Nix, known for his work on Burn Notice, will serve as the showrunner and executive producer. He will be joined by original series creators Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, and Doug Schwartz, who are also on the executive team.

2026 return

The new Baywatch show is slated to debut during the 2026-2027 television season.

The reboot will feature a brand new cast of lifeguards. While the series will honor the legacy of the original, it will introduce fresh storylines, characters, and challenges for a modern audience. No casting has been announced yet.

The new Baywatch will be set in Southern California and will retain the core elements of the original series, including “adrenaline-fueled rescues, tangled relationships, complicated chemistry and beachside heroics,” as well as the iconic red swimsuits and slow-motion scenes. It will also incorporate modern technology and themes.
