Bella Ramsey shares disappointing ‘Last of Us’ season two updates

The actor tells fans how long they will have to wait before getting a new season of ‘The Last of Us.’

Update:
Bella Ramsey shares disappointing ‘Last of Us’ season two updates

Actor Bella Ramsey who stars alongside Pedro Pascal in the HBO hit series ‘The Last of Us’ has some disappointing news for fans who are anxiously awaiting the series’ second season. According to Ramsey, fans shouldn’t expect the second season of the show until at least 2024.

The final episode of the first season aired on March 12 and fans immediately began to question when they would be able to get more. While the series was picked up for another season only a couple of episodes in, the next season may be further away than fans had hoped for.

While speaking on ‘The Jonathan Ross Show,’ Ramsey said, “It will be a while. I think we’ll probably shoot at the end of this year, the beginning of next,” regarding the second season of ‘The Last of Us.’

The actor continues, “So it’ll probably be the end of 2024, early 2025.”

33 months from start to finish

The news isn’t exactly surprising to avid fans though, as season one took over a year just to film. The series needed even more time to complete the final product as special and visual effects were needed for the Cordyceps animation.

According to GQ, the project took just under three years total to complete. So a 2025 release date is more than likely for the next season.

Who will star in the next season?

While the news disappointed many fans eager for a second season, many of them were relieved to find that the same cast will continue their roles into the next season. According to Deadline, the series will be keeping Bella Ramsey in their role as Ellie.

Alongside Ramsey, Pascal, Gabriel Luna who plays Tommy, and Rutina Wesley who plays Maria will also be returning to the second season.

As for the plot, Ramsey also confirmed in an interview with GQ that season two will “most likely” follow the storyline of the original game again. They also suggested that season two may time jump and kick off with events of the second installment of the game ‘Last of Us Part II.’
