Beyoncé and Jay-Z buy the most expensive home ever sold in California
The couple recently bought a Malibu mansion worth almost $300 million.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z are adding to their real estate portfolio. Just this week the power couple made a hefty purchase in Malibu.
The couple purchased a 30,000-square-foot Malibu property designed by Japanese master architect Tadao Ando. Ando also created Kanye West’s $57.3 million mansion, which he acquired during his divorce from Kim Kardashian.
The all-concrete home was previously owned by art collector William Bell and took him 15 years to build. According to TMZ, Jay-Z and Beyoncé paid $200 million for their new California mansion.
The house sits on an eight-acre bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean in the Paradise Cove area. While Mega-celebrity realtor Kurt Rappaport repped both the buyers and seller.
Rappaport has represented Adam Levine, Ellen DeGeneres, Ryan Seacrest, Tom Ford, Tom Brady, and Gisele Bundchen in the past.
The ‘Crazy In Love’ collaborators reportedly secured a great deal on the property, which was originally listed for $295 million. The deal is also the second most expensive real estate deal in the country, close behind a New York City apartment that sold for $238 million.
Online critics
Fans on social media had mixed reactions to the Carters’ new purchase.
“No person in a normal society should have so much wealth,” tweeted one person.
“Who tf buys a house that costs this much bro that’s so useless you could buy SO much land to save the earth but you rather spend it on a f–king house…,” wrote another.
“some of y’all are mad that they’re spending THEIR money the way that THEY want to??? stop worrying ab celebs money and go get a job of ur own. it’s clear y’all are insanely jobless,” wrote a supporter of the couple.
“Beyoncé now literally owns a house in the shape of her favorite number & the most expensive house ever sold. ICONIC,” commented another fan.
Their real estate portfolio
The recent purchase only adds to the couple’s already impressive real estate portfolio. In 2017, they purchased a home in Bel-Air for $88 million.
In the same year, the musicians spent $26 million on a 12,000-square-foot home on East Hampton’s exclusive Georgica Pond. They also own both Beyoncé's childhood home in Houston and Jay-Z’s childhood home in New York City.
