Beyoncé remembers her idol Tina Turner

Beyoncé shared a tribute to the late Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll on Wednesday.

After it was announced that Tina Turner, the legendary Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll who paved the way for many pop stars today, many celebrities took a moment to remember the artist.

Beyoncé shared a photo of the time she performed live with Turner at the 2008 Grammy Awards on her website, followed by a heartfelt message of thanks to her “beloved queen”.

“My beloved queen. I love you endlessly,” Beyoncé said in her tribute message. “I’m so grateful for your inspiration, and all the ways you have paved the way.”

She continued, “You are strength and resilience. You are the epitome of power and passion. We are all so fortunate to have witnessed your kindness and beautiful spirit that will forever remain. Thank you for all you have done.”

Beyoncé performed with Turner at the 2008 Grammy Awards, and an unearthed video of the singer rehearsing with Turner behind the scenes showed her absolutely excited to meet her idol.

“When I was a kid and I saw her tapes, I wanted to be like her,” she said in the clip. “This is literally a dream to me because she’s the ultimate. To actually be on the stage with her is crazy.”

The two then performed a rendition of Turner’s hit song ‘Proud Mary’.

Three years before their duet in 2005, Beyoncé shared her love of Turner at the Kennedy Center Honors, where she performed ‘Proud Mary’ solo.

“You know, every now and then when I think inspiration, I think of the two Tina’s in my life,” she began as she walked on stage, as the band behind her teased the song.

That’s my mother, Tina, and of course, the amazing Tina Turner,” she said gesturing to Turner who was sitting on the balcony level of the Kennedy Center.

“I’ll never forget the first time I saw you perform. I never in my life saw a woman so powerful, so fearless, so fabulous—and those legs!”
