At the end of May, news broke that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter, Shiloh, had filed a petition to remove “Pitt” from her last name. Shiloh has now announced the news in the Los Angeles Times.

The 18-year-old recently posted a legal notice in the paper to share that she had filed the petition to remove the last name of her father from her own surname. The announcement is a standard step before the court legally approves a name change.

The notice also states that anyone who has objections to the petition must appear in court later this month. The young woman seeks to change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.

Shiloh reportedly hired and paid for her own attorney when she filed her petition as she turned 18.

What does Brad Pitt think about his daughter dropping his name?

A source told People that the actor is aware of the legal process that his daughter Shiloh has initiated and that he feels upset about it. The source said Pitt had never felt as much joy as when she was born. “He always wanted a daughter,” the source said. This last comment has caused a stir on social media, as users point out the fact that Pitt already had an adopted daughter when Shiloh was born.

Of course, it’s not easy for Brad to remember that he has lost his children. He loves his children and misses them. It is very sad. He is still happy with Inés [de Ramón], but the distance from his children hurts him. He still loves all of his children dearly. This whole process has been very hard for the entire family,” the informant added.

In addition to Shiloh, Pitt and Jolie share five other children: Maddox, 22; Pax, 20; Zahara, 19, as well as Knox and Vivienne, both 15 years old. While Shiloh’s legal process continues, both actors also continue with their divorce proceedings.
