‘Succession’ actor Brian Cox called out former actress Meghan Markle in a new interview. Cox suggests that Markle “knew what she was getting into..” when she married Prince Harry.

The actor explained his views on the Royal Family in an Haute Living New York interview, published Wednesday. In the interview, Cox alleges that Markle “clearly” had “ambitions” of marrying into a royal family.

The 76-year-old actor says that Markle had “the childhood dreams of marrying Prince Charming and all that s–t we see as fantasy that could be our lives in our dreams.”

Cox explains that the former ‘Suits’ Actress and now Duchess shouldn’t be shocked by the drama Prince Harry exiting the Royal Family created.

He continued, “You can’t go into a system where somebody’s already been trained to behave in a certain kind of way and then just expect them to cut themselves off.”

“I mean, she knew what she was getting into,” Cox affirms. Later in the interview, the actor said he would like to see the U.K. “move on” from the royals.

“In my opinion, we shouldn’t have a monarchy,” Cox said. “It’s not viable; it doesn’t make any sense. F–k it,” Cox explained.

Previous comments

This isn’t the first time the actor has commented on Royal affairs. In 2022, he told ‘Good Morning Britain’ viewers that “something clearly traumatic” happened to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, before they stepped back from their Royal affairs.

“I don’t think they made it up, I don’t think it’s false,” Cox said at the time regarding their change in roles. “I think it’s true and should’ve been rectified, and it hasn’t.”

When did Prince Harry and Meghan Markle exit the Royal family?

In January 2020, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their official decision to leave the Monarch on Instagram.

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” the couple said in their statement.

They continued, “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”

The couple has since stepped back from attending Royal Events and been vocal about their history with the family. Most notably, Prince Harry has published a Memoir that quickly became the UK’s fastest-selling nonfiction book ever with 400,000 copies.
