Britney Spears’ husband files for divorce: How long were they married?
Britney Spears’ third husband, Sam Asghari, has filed for divorce after being married for 14 months. He cited “irreconcilable differences” in his petition.
On Wednesday, TMZ reported that Britney Spears and her husband, Sam Asghari, had separated after just over a year of marriage. Multiple sources told the outlet that Asghari allegedly confronted the singer last week over rumors that she had cheated on him.
A few hours later, Entertainment Tonight revealed that Asghari filed for divorce from the singer after 14 months of marriage. According to the outlet, Sam cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for ending the marriage. The actor listed the separation date as July 28, 2023.

Is Sam Asghari seeking to challenge the prenuptial agreement?
Asghari is seeking spousal support and attorneys’ fees, and he could also try to challenge the prenuptial agreement that the singer made him sign to keep their assets separate.
The legal documents obtained by TMZ state: “[Sam] has yet to determine the full nature and extent of each party’s separate property, assets and liabilities.”
“There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and liabilities, the full nature and scope of which are unknown to [Sam] at this time,” according to the documents.

A source told Page Six last year that they both signed a prenuptial agreement in favor of the singer. “All the money she earned before the wedding is protected,” according to the source.
It is highly unlikely that a judge will declare the prenup invalid, but Asghari could get a divorce and get money from the singer. A source with direct knowledge told TMZ that it is very likely that the situation will be resolved with Spears writing a check.
In the meantime, the singer has sought out celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser.
An insider told the same outlet that Asghari is trying to negotiate concessions beyond the prenuptial agreement and threatening to release extremely embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.
How long were Britney Spears and Sam Asghari together?
Spears and Asghari became engaged in September 2021, after nearly five years of dating.
Less than a year later, in June 2022, the couple got married during a ceremony at the singer’s mansion in Thousand Oaks, California, which was attended by celebrities such as Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton, Madonna and Selena Gomez.
