BTS member Jimin is releasing his first solo album ‘Face’ on March 24, and the album’s first single ‘Set Me Free Pt.2′ is an intense look at what the album will bring.

Featuring plenty of dancey beats, assertive lyrics, and auto-tuned vocals, the song finds the South Korean singer exploring his own musical capabilities and vision, focusing on the theme of freedom, perhaps alluding to finally owning his creative vision.

A strong start for Jimin

The title of the song refers to fellow BTS member Suga’s song ‘Set Me Free’ from his mixtape ‘D-2′ released in 2020.

There isn’t a connection, and we weren’t trying to divide part one or part two,” Jimin explained in an interview with Consequence.

“But since it turns out my song talks about freedom and moving forward, and SUGA’s song talks about some of the stories that come before, I thought it would be good to come after that.

Besides the powerful sound of the song, the lyrics, sung in both Korean and English, assert Jimin against people who doubt him.

“I never stop, f— all your opps/Finally free-e-e,” he sings.

Jimin’s debut single as a solo artist is a powerful start for the artist. As one of the seven members of the South Korean boy band BTS, his time in the band has prepared him to take his singing and dancing abilities to the next level as seen in the music video for ‘Set Me Free Pt.2′.

The choreography for the new song features at least a dozen dancers performing a rigorous routine with Jimin at the center. It’s executed to perfection, with both Jimin and his dancers making it look easy.

“First, we tried to focus on the performance and express the really intense vibe of the song,” Jimin said of the choreography.

“The key point was freedom — and actually, we were drinking at the time. This is the last track on the album; the last of the emotions. It’s very intense, so I wanted to announce a ‘Jimin solo’ in an impactful way.”

When is ‘Face’ coming out?

Jimin’s debut album is set to be released on Friday, March 24, with six tracks.

On the album’s release date, the singer will also release the album’s second single ‘Like Crazy’ with an accompanying music video.
