‘Call Her Daddy’ podcast host Alex Cooper is officially engaged to Matt Kaplan. The two met on a Zoom call in 2020, where the Hollywood producer was nicknamed ‘Mr. Sexy Zoom Man,’ to keep his true identity secret.

Kaplan popped the question on March 3 at their home in Los Angeles after being lured out of the house for a fake photoshoot. The podcast star returned home later that evening to find candles, music, and a special scavenger hunt set up leading to the big question.

Revealed in an interview

The 28-year-old podcast host confirmed her engagement in an interview published Monday by W Magazine.

“I like, blacked out,” Cooper told W, recalling the moment Kaplan got down on one knee. “I think I said yes at first. It was very surreal.”

According to People, marriage wasn’t something Cooper was sure she wanted, but during a date night in November 2022 at the restaurant Giorgio Baldi in Los Angeles, she let Kaplan know he could propose “whenever he wanted.”

“He was beaming, because he had accepted that maybe we wouldn’t get married,” she shared with W.

Scavenger hunt details

The scavenger hunt began with Kaplan playing a video on a computer where he wore the same outfit from their first initial Zoom meeting.

“He talked about our relationship and his love for me, and then he asked me to open the card sitting there and to follow the scavenger hunt around the house,” Cooper said in her interview with W.

As she walked around the house, each room was decorated with photos and keepsakes to match various themes. The last one she said “was a glass of champagne and a card” with a special message: “Meet me down by the Buddha.”

Following directions, Cooper made her way out to the Buddha statue that a woman placed in the courtyard near their home. That’s where she found Kaplan and their two dogs, and he got down on his knee.

“You’re my soulmate, the love of my life,” Kaplan said, according to Cooper. “You make me a better man. Please do me the honor of marrying me.”
