Cameron Diaz is ‘Back in Action’ after her long acting hiatus
It’s been almost a decade since the ‘Charlie’s Angels’ actress graced the big screen.
Cameron Diaz was recently spotted alongside fellow actor and longtime friend Jamie Foxx on set for their upcoming Netflix film ‘Back in Action.’ The role marks the first time Diaz has acted since her role as Miss Colleen Hannigan in ‘Annie’ back in 2014.

Foxx released a recorded phone call between Foxx and Diaz, where the two are joined by Tom Brady, who helps Diaz announce her “unretirement.”
The clip was later shared on Diaz’s Instagram story with the caption “@iamjamiefoxx only you could get me back in action! I can’t frickin wait it’s gonna be a blast!”
Diaz has remained out of the spotlight since 2014, presumably focusing on life with her husband, Benji Madden, lead guitarist of Good Charlotte, whom she married on January 5, 2015. They have also been busy raising their daughter, Raddix Madden, who was born in December 2019 via surrogate.
The ‘Back in Action’ role will mark nearly a decade of absence from the film industry for the actress.
“When you do something at a really high level for a long period of time, when you’re the person that’s sort of delivering on this one thing, everything around, all parts of you that isn’t that, has to sort of be handed off to other people,” Diaz told Kevin Hart in a 2021 interview on his show ‘Hart to Heart.’
“Just, the management of me as a human being… Cameron Diaz is a machine. But for my personal, spiritual self, I was realizing that one part of me that functioned at a high level wasn’t enough.”
In Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘In goop Health: The Sessions’ Diaz said that during her time away from acting, “[She] learned a lot about [herself]. It’s painful. It hurts. It’s scary. I credit Benji a lot. I broke that mirror about a thousand times when he put it up to me.”
Dressed to impress
Diaz and Foxx were spotted on set in London dressed to impress, with Foxx sporting a classic black tuxedo and Diaz in a matching power suit and black camisole.
In the pictured scene, the two appear to be attending an extravagant affair.
When is ‘Back in Action’ being released?
The action-comedy film is set to release in either late 2023 or early 2024 on Netflix. Actors Kyle Chandler, Glenn Close, McKenna Roberts, Rylan Jackson, Jamie Demetriou, and Andrew Scott will also appear in the film in undisclosed roles.
