Christina Applegate brought her daughter to the SAG Award’s red carpet after saying the ceremony may be her ‘last award show as an actor,’ amid her battle with multiple sclerosis. The 51-year-old actress walked the carpet alongside her 12-year-old daughter, Sadie Grace LeNobel.

The ‘Dead to Me’ star wore a floor-length tuxedo dress while her daughter sported a similar look. LeNobel appears to be wearing a black peacoat, with a matching black dress shirt, pants, and hat. The mother-daughter duo held hands for the majority of the red carpet walk.

Applegate added a special message to her red carpet-look. She also carried a cane with stickers affixed on spelling out the statement “FU MS.” The actress uses a cane due to balance issues the disease can cause.

Her last award show appearance

Applegate confirmed her MS diagnosis in 2021, and revealed earlier this month that the SAG Awards would most likely be her last as she continues to battle the impacts of the disease.

“It’s my last awards show as an actor probably, so it’s kind of a big deal,” Applegate told The Los Angeles Times.

She continued: “Right now, I couldn’t imagine getting up at 5 a.m. and spending 12 to 14 hours on a set; I don’t have that in me at this moment.”

The Actress told LA Times that she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) while filming the third season of the Netflix drama comedy series “Dead to Me.” Her role received her a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series at the SAG Awards on Sunday.

Applegate also emphasized that she won’t be leaving the industry entirely. She teased that she might take up voice-over acting to “make some cash.”

What is Multiple Sclerosis?

According to John Hopkins Medicine, Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic disease of the central nervous system. Described as a condition in which the body attacks itself by mistake.

Symptoms range from losing the ability to see, write, speak, or walk as the disease causes communication between the brain and other parts of the body to become disrupted. There is no cure for MS but medications can be used to manage symptoms and improve functions.
