Michael B. Jordan is reprising his role as fictional boxer Adonis “Donnie” Creed in the upcoming third installment of the ‘Creed’ series, ‘Creed III’ out in theaters on Friday.

The movie also marks Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut and features a number of guest stars in yet-to-be-revealed roles, including Mexican boxer Canelo Álvarez.

‘Creed III’ trailers

The first trailer for the film was released by MGM in October 2022, where fans got their first look at Damian, Adonis’ childhood best friend who will play an important role in the film.

A behind-the-scenes look was released in December, where Jordan talks about his experience directing the film.

“‘Creed III’ is not just your typical boxing movie,” Jordan explained. “We really wanted to take advantage of the emotional journey of the characters and put that into the ring and have it pay off in a physical way.”

Jordan also revealed that ‘Creed III’ will become the first sports film to be filmed on IMAX cameras.

“With the IMAX experience, you can take in that environment in a way that you normally wouldn’t.”

The final trailer gives fans a glimpse into the impending battle between Adonis and Damian.

What is ‘Creed III’ about?

Following the events of ‘Creed II’, ‘Creed III’ finds Adonis enjoying a moment of peace in his life, content with his success and the family he’s built with his wife, Bianca Taylor played by Tessa Thompson. After running into his childhood friend Damian who was just released from prison after 20 years, Adonis helps him establish a boxing career, only for the two to become enemies.

Drawing heavily from elements of Sylvester Stallone’s ‘Rocky II’ and ‘Rocky V’ films, the film focuses heavily on Adonis’ background, what led him to where he is today, and how he narrowly avoided life behind bars.

‘Creed III’ cast

‘Creed III’ will have Michael B. Jordan playing the starring role, as well as directing the final film. Jonathan Majors will play Damian Anderson, Adonis’ best friend turned enemy. Wood Harris is Tony ‘Little Duke’ Evers and Florian Munteanu will appear as ‘Viktor Drago’.

Tony Bellew will return as “Pretty” Ricky Conlan from the first Creed film. Selenis Leyva, Thaddeus J. Mixson, and Mexican boxer Canelo Álvarez are also slated to appear in surprise roles.

Release date

‘Creed III’ is set to premiere on Friday, March 3 in theaters everywhere.
