The British actor, best known for portraying Harry Potter, spoke about the rumors surrounding him being the next Wolverine.

One of Marvel’s most beloved big‑screen characters is Wolverine — and Hugh Jackman is a huge reason why. Even though he continues to shine in the role, rumors have been swirling for years about who might eventually replace him. One of the names that keeps popping up is Daniel Radcliffe. The British actor actually fits the comic‑book version of Wolverine, and he addressed the speculation in a recent interview with ComicBook.

No. It was never real. It was just a very flattering rumor on the internet,” Radcliffe said. “I was thrilled by it, but no one with the power to make it happen ever suggested it to me.”

The challenge of replacing a Hollywood legend

Radcliffe went on to explain that while he wouldn’t dismiss the idea outright, stepping into Jackman’s shoes isn’t exactly on his bucket list.

Honestly, you’d be foolish not to at least consider something like that,” he said. “But if they ever do another version of Wolverine, being the guy who replaces Hugh Jackman is not something I’m eager to do. For any role he’s played — especially the one that’s become the most iconic of his career — I’m perfectly happy not doing it and letting him keep going.”

The conversation also touched on whether Radcliffe might join a comic‑book movie in general. The actor admitted he’s “pretty out of the loop.”

I feel like I don’t even know what phase we’re in with Marvel movies anymore, and I’d have to catch up if I ever ended up in one,” he said. “But I’m definitely not opposed to it. I’d never rule something like that out. I’m just not actively chasing it. I’m lucky enough to choose projects based on the quality of the script. So if something exciting, different, weird, and great came my way, I’d be open to it — no matter what it was.”
