Director duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, professionally known as Daniels, made an appearance on The Late Show this past Monday. After host Stephen Colbert’s dog ‘ate’ the original opening credits sequence, Daniels whipped up a replacement track.

Colbert, anticipating something reflective of the action and excitement in Daniels’ Oscar-nominated film ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’, was met with something completely different. The duo took a more contemplative route instead.

“We went with something more calm, meditative,” Kwan explained. The opening sequence also featured world-renowned ASMR artist, Maria Gentlewhispering.

Stephen Colbert feigns disappointment at Daniels’ relaxing opening credits

The revised calming opener involved philosophical musings and light affirmations, accompanied by a soft instrumental. This new and improved version may have relaxed the audience, but Colbert insisted on something a bit more lively.

“It’s really cool, guys, it’s just… it’s a terrible opening for my show,” The Late Show host joked, continuing the comedy bit with the directorial duo.

“I’m not gonna let these two inexperienced man-children ruin my show just because this is the multiverse where they suck.”

Fans love Daniels’ rendition of The Late Show opening

Colbert’s viewership is loving the revised version of his usual opening credits sequence, and many are taking to social media to voice their approval of the change.

Some fans took to the YouTube comments section of Colbert’s sketch.

“Love the Daniels. Hope they both and the entire EEAAO family wins at the Oscars,” one fan commented.

“Okay I want to know if the Daniels were pre-existing fans of Maria, and if not, how did they casually decide on getting the most legendary ASMRtist ever?!” another wrote, excited at the unexpected collaboration between Daniels and Maria Gentlewhispering.

Daniels’ ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ projected to sweep 2023 Oscars

Aside from creating relaxing opening show tunes, the directorial duo is expected to dominate the 95th Oscars awards, happening this Sunday, March 12.

Their multiverse-spanning thriller comedy ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ is nominated for a whopping 11 Oscars this season.
